19/10/2018 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 18 October, European pilots, represented by the European Cockpit Association, welcomed the conclusion, at the end of a single meeting on Wednesday 17 October (see EUROPE 12120), of the inter-institutional negotiations (trilogues) between the representatives of the European Parliament and the Austrian Presidency of the Council of the EU on the revision of Regulation 1008/2008 on the leasing, by European air companies, of aircraft with crew to third-party companies. "The revised article 13 of EU Reg. 1008/2008 will allow the EU to lift the existing time restriction on wet-leasing and solve a dispute between the EU and the US", the organisation states in a press release. The review of this regulation is limited to the compliance of EU standards with the EU's international obligations – in other words, with the EU-US air agreement. The Commission is furthermore considering a future general revision of the regulation (see EUROPE 11983). (LT)
