19/10/2018 (Agence Europe) – In an interview given to Euractiv, published on Friday 19 October, Left Party President Gregor Gysi explained that a future Left Commission was "conceivable", on condition that the Social Democrats sign a left manifesto and "change their political leadership". He also hoped to create a union of the three major pan-European left-wing political parties: the Left Party, Greece's Yánis Varoufákis’ Diem 25, and "Now the People!" However, Mr Gysi recalled that only the Left Party could present a "Spitzenkandidat", since the party is the only one registered. As a reminder, the PEL is considering presenting a candidate, but is waiting until it has a sufficiently strong candidacy to do so (see EUROPE 12107). For the full interview: https://bit.ly/2CrrvgS.
