02/10/2018 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 2 October, the Council of the European Union officially confirmed the removal of Palau from the European list of non-cooperative jurisdictions in taxation matters set up in December 2017, as it considers that the Micronesian archipelago has taken political commitments to respond to the EU's concerns. Although it originally included 17 countries (see EUROPE 11919), the blacklist now features just six: the American Samoas, Guam, Namibia, Samoa, Trinidad and Tobago and the American Virgin Islands. The Ecofin Council also found that Liechtenstein and Peru had carried out appropriate reforms to be taken off the 'grey' list of countries that have made commitments being specifically monitored by the EU.
