01/10/2018 (Agence Europe) – During a meeting in Brussels on 28 September, MEPs from the European Parliament's Russia-EU parliamentary cooperation committee and a delegation from the Russian Federal Assembly expressed their "mutual interest in further contacts and promoting the reestablishment of a full-fledged interparliamentary dialogue", according to a press release from the Russian Mission to the EU. The press release also says that during the meeting, organised on the initiative of Othmar Karas MEP, the co-chair of the Russia-EU parliamentary cooperation committee, the parties considered in detail the state and prospects of Russia-EU interparliamentary dialogue and shared their views on topical issues of the international agenda and on Ukraine. The Russian parliamentarians invited MEPs to Crimea for a familiarisation visit. When asked by EUROPE, the office of Othmar Karas had not confirmed this information at the time of EUROPE going to press. (CG)
