01/10/2018 (Agence Europe) – Of the four politicians who put themselves forward to become the co-Spitzenkandidaten of the European Green Party, three will be able to officially run (see EUROPE 12097). Germany's Ska Keller, Petra de Sutter of Belgium and Bas Eickhout of the Netherlands received the support of at least five national parties that are members of the European party (other than the parties that sponsored them). Like the other three candidates, Atanas Schmid of Bulgaria had until Friday 28 September to gather the required signatures, but failed to do so. The next step for de Sutter, Eickhout and Keller will be the European Green Party Congress, to be held in Berlin from 23 to 25 November, which will provide the political group's delegates with the opportunity to elect and invest the two co-Spitzenkandidaten.
