26/09/2018 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 26 September, the member state ambassadors to the EU approved the UK's request to participate in the new rules of the European agency for the operational management of large-scale IT systems in the area of freedom, security and justice (eu-Lisa). The agency was given a new mandate in June 2017. Under the current system, the UK's participation in the regulation is governed by Decision 2010/779. Given its participation in Eurodac, Dublin and its partial participation in SIS II, the UK also has the right to participate in the activities of the revised eu-LISA in so far as eu-LISA is responsible for the operational management of SIS, Eurodac and Dublin, the Council states. On 19 July, London asked to participate in the new proposal, and its request was then approved by the member states. The point will be formally adopted this week, probably at the Competitiveness Council (see other article). (SP)
