06/09/2018 (Agence Europe) – According to the figures presented by the Transport & Environment organisation on Thursday 6 September in a press release, a transfer to zero emissions road freight would help to save 1 billion barrels of oil by 2030 or even 11 billion by 2050. It would also significantly increase European GDP and, above all, create an additional 120,000 new jobs in the economy. According to the organisation, the transition to clean transport is already up and running but needs to take into account heavy duty vehicles, which account for 22% of emissions from the road transport sector. The T&E indicated that heavy duty vehicles are a segment of road transport where CO2 emissions are increasing more quickly than anywhere else. Please see the report at: https://bit.ly/2NSJf7R . (PH)
