29/08/2018 (Agence Europe) – In a press release on Tuesday 28 August, the European Social Insurance Platform (ESIP), while welcoming the European Commission’s proposal to set up a new European Labour Authority, expressed concern about some of the work it would be attributed. ESIP says the fact that the future authority would be able to play a role as mediator in solving cross-border disputes and in the processing of data would alter the governance laid down for European coordination of social security. It says transferring these tasks in 2019 could jeopardise the success of the Electronic Exchange of Social Security Information (EESSI). ESIP insists that society security inspections should remain in national hands. The ESIP document can be found at https://bit.ly/2MDWKeX. (PH)
