20/08/2018 (Agence Europe) – The annual inflation rate of the Eurozone stood at 2.1% in July, compared to 2.0% in June, according to figures published by the statistical office of the European Union (Eurostat) on Friday 17 August. In the EU, this rate stood at 2.2%, compared to 2.1% the previous month. The lowest annual rates were to be observed in Greece (0.8%), Denmark (0.9%) and Ireland (1.0%), whilst the highest rates were registered in Romania (4.3%), Bulgaria (3.6%), Hungary (3.4%) and Estonia (3.3%). Compared to June, annual inflation has fallen in nine countries, remained stable in six and has increased in 13 others. In July, the largest contributions to Eurozone inflation came from energy (+0.89pp), services (+0.64pp), food, alcohol & tobacco (+0.49pp) and non-energy industrial goods (+0.12pp). (MB)
