02/08/2018 (Agence Europe) – On Roma Holocaust Memorial Day, on Thursday 2 August, the Fundamental Rights Agency (FRA) of the EU reiterated that the Roma community is still the subject of persecution in the EU. “Anti-gypsyism today remains a problem in many member states”, the Agency laments, reporting that over the last five years, 36% of Roma have been victims of harassment motivated by hatred and that 41% have been victims of discrimination. It concludes that there has been “little improvement over nearly a decade”. The Agency calls upon the member states to do all they can to help the Roma to integrate and to tackle anti-gypsyism.
