The 2017 general budget of the European Union should have been adopted in Strasbourg, the seat of the European Parliament, pursuant to the treaties, Advocate General Melchior Wathelet stated in conclusions dated Tuesday 5 June (case C-73/17).
The Advocate General proposes to cancel the act adopted in Brussels in late 2016 whilst maintaining its effects - as the 2017 financial year has fully elapsed - until a new act is adopted in due form in Strasbourg within a reasonable period of time.
