30/05/2018 (Agence Europe) – Following the vote on the posted workers directive on Tuesday 29 May, several MEPs, including Danuta Jazłowiecka (EPP, Poland), complained about the confused way in which the vote was organised by Pavel Telička (ALDE, Czech Republic), which led to Polish MEPs from the EPP supporting the inter-institutional agreement (see EUROPE 12029). A press release from the Polish EPP delegation indicated, “The unacceptable and unprecedented chaos during the vote led to around 100 MEPs from the different countries, including part of the Civic Platform (PO) and to the Polish People's Party (PSL) voting against their convictions”. In fact, 24 MEPs in total, a majority of them Polish, changed their ballots to vote against. Five MEPs changed their vote to support the agreement and eight abstained. These changes, however, did not have any impact on the overall result of the vote. (PH)
