22/05/2018 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 23 May, the European Parliament and Council will address the thorny issue of diesel fumes, which was introduced by MEPS as part of the second review of the directive on exposure to carcinogens (for which the threshold value set by MEPs is 0.005 mg/m³). "The inclusion of diesel is the great challenge of my report because there is not only that from cars which is harmful", rapporteur Claude Rolin (EPP, Belgium) tweeted, ahead of the first trialogue on Thursday 17 May. Another sensitive point that will be addressed is the integration of the agreements between the social partners in the annexes of the directive in order to introduce good practice on worker protection so as to limit exposure to harmful substances. The third inter-institutional meeting will take place on 18 June. (PH)
