EU senior official warns against nuclear arms race if agreement falls apart

On Wednesday 2 May, an EU senior official warned that the withdrawal of the agreement on the Iranian nuclear programme could trigger a nuclear arms race in the Middle East.

"If this agreement falls apart and you don't have a substitute, what do you gain?  You make things worse because you probably trigger a nuclear arms race in the region", he warned.

The USA is due to announce by 12 May whether or not it will retain the suspension of its sanctions – the famous 'waivers' – and Iran...
