Spanish regional taxes on large retail establishments are compatible with EU law, says Court

The principle of the freedom of establishment and EU state aid law do not prevent regional taxes on large retail establishments with the aim of contributing to protecting the environment and town and country planning, the Court of Justice of the EU said in a judgment returned on Thursday 26 April (cases C-233 to 237/16).
