11/04/2018 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday morning 11 April, the Committee of Public Representatives to the EU (Coreper) approved the provisional agreement on the directive on posted workers (see EUROPE 11985). The result of the votes reflect the positions of the member states during the adoption of the general approach at the Employment Policy and Social Affairs Council (EPSCO) on 23 October 2017 (see EUROPE 11889, 11888). Poland and Hungary voted against the agreement. The United Kingdom, Czech Republic, Latvia, Lithuania and Croatia abstained. The Czech Republic was very critical of the agreement (see EUROPE 11983), intends to make a joint declaration with Slovakia and Portugal concerning the international road transport sector. The ball is now in the court of the European Parliament, which is due to vote on the text during the plenary in either May or June. (PH)
