EFSA - Commission legislates to increase transparency and independence of EU scientific assessments

Let it not be said that the mobilisation of 1.3 million European citizens against glyphosate failed to deliver a result. On Wednesday 11 April, the European Commission proposed amendment of the EU’s general food legislation, which established the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), in order to increase the transparency, the quality and the independence of scientific risk assessments of substances, such as pesticides, entering the food chain.
