On Wednesday 14 March, the European Commission announced the opening of an expiry review of EU anti-dumping measures applying to imports of rolls of aluminium foil from China.
The request was lodged on 14 December 2017 by eight European producers (two from Poland, one each from Italy, France, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom) representing more than 40% of production of rolls of aluminium foil in the EU.
The products being reassessed are aluminium foil of 0.007 mm or above but less than 0.021 mm without backing, simply laminated or embossed, in the form of light rolls weighing up to 10 kg.
The measures currently in force are a definitive antidumping duty (217/2013/Council of the EU) and the producers justify their request due to the risk of continuing or restoration of dumping and damage to the EU industry of the measures’ expiry.
The investigation will cover the period from 1 January to 31 December 2017. The analysis of trends for carrying out the investigation will cover the period from 1 January 2014 to the end of the expiry investigation. (Original version in French by Emmanuel Hagry)
