09/03/2018 (Agence Europe) – On Friday 9 March, Malta announced its intention to join the enhanced cooperation to institute the European Public Prosecutor's Office, the Bulgarian justice minister, Tsetska Tsacheva, announced after the Justice Council. This “good news” brings to 22 the number of member states participating in this body, which will be responsible for fighting fraud against European funds and the VAT in its cross-border dimensions and is expected to be up and running in 2020. Readers may recall that the Netherlands made a similar announcement at the informal meeting of the Justice ministers in Sofia in late January (see EUROPE 11948), although this has not yet been officially notified.
