08/02/2018 (Agence Europe) – The EPP in the European Parliament has still not finalised its position on deepening the Economic and Monetary Union (EMU). Two questions still need to be resolved this week during the Parliament plenary session in Strasbourg, as part of the reflection process facilitated by the French MEP, Françoise Grossetête: - the procedure for appointing the director of the European Monetary Fund, which is due to replace the European Stability Mechanism; - the opportunity to merge the functions of the Commissioner for Economic and to Financial Affairs and the President of the Eurogroup. According to the information we received, it was not possible to tackle these questions due to the lack of time and insufficient number of MEPs present on Wednesday 7 February. It was, however, the second point, which provoked the most debate among the Christian Democrats. (MB)
