23/01/2018 (Agence Europe) – At the end of meetings with Moldova's new Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Iurie Leanca, European Commissioner for Neighbourhood Policy Johannes Hahn and High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini underlined, in two separate statements, that justice and the fight against corruption remained essential areas for reform in Moldova. "The EU is closely following developments with regard to the electoral framework, the media sector, and the major banking fraud unveiled in 2014, where essential tasks such as criminal investigations and recovering misappropriated funds have not been completed", the European External Action Service stated. Mogherini also underlined the importance of following the international partners' recommendations in areas linked to reforms and democracy. (CG)
