Malaysia threatens EU with retaliation if its new biofuels scheme bans palm oil

Responding to Malaysia's threats of retaliation out of the country's fear of palm oil being banned in the EU, the European Commission gave assurances on Friday 12 January that its proposal for a new EU scheme for biofuels – which is currently being assessed at the EU Council and European Parliament – is in line with the EU's commitments on WTO rules.
