On Tuesday 28 November, the ambassadors of the EU Political and Security Committee and the permanent representatives of the League of Arab States hailed "the strengthening of the Euro-Arab partnership as an appropriate regional response" to the "common political, economic, social, and security challenges" which threaten the stability of their common region, according to a press release from the EU Council.
The two parties discussed the Palestinian question and ways to push the peace process forward. They also discussed developments in the situations in Syria, Libya, Yemen and Iraq, as well as counter-terrorism, irregular migration, refugees and displaced persons.
Since the launch of the EU-Arab League strategic dialogue in November 2015, it has been agreed to continue developing Euro-Arab operational cooperation, particularly in the fields of conflict prevention, crisis management, humanitarian assistance, counter-terrorism, transnational organised crime and nuclear disarmament.
Alongside the ambassadors' meeting, there was also a meeting of the working groups for cooperation between the League of Arab States and the EU. (Original version in French by Camille-Cerise Gessant)
