Benjamin Netanyahu in Brussels on 11 December

21/11/2017 (Agence Europe)According to several Israeli media, Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will be in Brussels on 11 December and will meet the EU's foreign affairs ministers over breakfast.  "This visit is very important because (...) it is a unique opportunity to strengthen and improve the ties between Israel and the EU", Emmanuel Nahshon, the spokesperson from Israel's foreign ministry stated, as quoted by The Jerusalem Post on Tuesday 21 November.  When asked by EUROPE, a European source was not able to confirm the meeting, but said "the agenda of the Foreign Affairs Council (on 11 December), and consequently meetings on the sidelines of it", was "still being prepared".  Relations between the EU and Israel are tense, especially due to Israel's settlement policy and the EU's guidelines on products from the settlements.  The Iranian nuclear agreement is also expected to be discussed.  (CG)
