16/11/2017 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 16 November, the European Commission announced additional support of €100 million for development aid to Guinea. “Three years ago, Guinea was hit by Ebola. Today, the country has recovered, but it is still facing many challenges. The European Union will support the national economic and social development plan of Guinea at a level of €400 million up to 2020. This means that we will make more than €100 million available on top of what we are already doing in Guinea, for instance via the trust fund for Africa”, said the Commissioner for Development, Neven Mimica. The aid will help to consolidate the rule of law in the country, provide basic health care, develop energy and transport infrastructure and tackle the root causes of illegal migration. (MB)
