09/11/2017 (Agence Europe) – The European Transport Workers’ Federation (ETF) opposes the European Commission’s proposals for bus, coach and combined travel unveiled in the second mobility package on Wednesday 8 November (see EUROPE 11900) since they could have a negative impact on working conditions. The ETF feels that the bus and coach legislation could lead to a significant drop in prices, increased working time and undeclared work. As for the proposal on combined transport, the ETF says it would lead to social dumping in cabotage operations. The association regrets that the Commission’s approach will have “a negative impact on job quality, safety of drivers and passengers and the quality of service.” (LT)
