09/11/2017 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 8 November, the European Commission signed several new contracts to support Syrian refugees in Turkey, at the eighth meeting of the steering committee of the EU Facility. The Commission signed a contract for €50 million with the Bank of the Council of Europe, to provide a hospital in Kilis with 300 beds. Another contract, for €20 million, with the development bank KfW, aims to renew and modernise the existing workshops of the Technical and Vocational training programme of the Ministry of National Education. Finally, an addendum for €45 million was signed to a contract concluded in November 2016 in the area of education infrastructure, to build an extra 50 prefabricated schools. Of the Fund's €3 billion, €2.9 billion has been allocated: just over €1.78 billion is under contract, with €908 million paid out. (CG)
