European Parliament committee responsible will vote on copyright reform on 25 January

07/11/2017 (Agence Europe)The legal affairs committee (responsible for the matter) vote at the European Parliament on copyright reform will take place on 25 January, according to a tweet from the European Parliament press service on Monday 6 November. It should be recalled that the draft directive seeks to take into account technological progress and new distribution channels for protected content within the single market. It also introduces new exceptions, encourages licensing contracts and sets out new rules to ensure the effective functioning of the market involving the use of content and other protected objects. At this stage, the internal market, industry and culture committees have adopted their opinions and we are still awaiting the opinion from Michał Boni (EPP, Poland) for the civil liberties committee, on which there will be a vote on 20 or 21 November. (SPj)
