16/10/2017 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 16 October, the European Union announced that it was to deploy an election observation mission in Honduras during the presidential, general and municipal and PARLACEN (Central American Parliament) elections, due to take place on Sunday 26 November. These elections are a “key moment to further consolidate democracy in the country”, said the High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Federica Mogherini, in a press release. The European election observation delegation, which will be headed up by MEP Marisa Matias (GUE/NGL, Portugal) will be made up of ten analysts already present in Tegucigalpa as well as 22 long-term and 40 short-term observers.
