09/10/2017 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 5 October, 15 national level road transport organisations published a joint statement in which they take a position against the proposals in the “mobility” package relating to posted workers in the transport sector (see EUROPE 11799). According to the organisations, international transport does not consider that “hypermobile” workers should be included in the framework of directive 96/71/EC on posted workers that seeks to regulate work in another member state for several months. According to these organisations, application of the rules on posted workers would involve cumbersome and complicated administrative procedures that would reduce international business activity. These organisations also believe that if these rules are applied, international transport costs will rise and affect growth in the Union. (LT)
