09/10/2017 (Agence Europe) – Around 120 young Europeans and Africans selected from over 7,500 applicants are participating in the fourth Africa-Europe summit (9-11 October, Abidjan, Ivory Coast) to prepare for the African Union-European Union summit in Abidjan (29-30 November) which will focus on youth (see EUROPE 11812). These 120 young people will put a series of recommendations to the AU-EU summit on themes including education and skills, peace and security, governance and inclusion, the environment and climate, entrepreneurship and job creation. "We have a responsibility to listen to young people", High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini states. As Africa is the youngest continent in the world, with 60% of its population aged under 25, young people's "contributions are central, when discussing about a future that belongs to them", European Commissioner for International Cooperation and Development Neven Mimica points out.
