27/09/2017 (Agence Europe) – During their first trialogue meeting on Tuesday 26 September, negotiators from the European Parliament, Presidency of the Council of the EU and Commission worked in a constructive climate on the proposal to extend the ETS derogation to long haul flights, whilst awaiting implementation of the International Civil Aviation Organisation’s “CORSIA” market measure (see EUROPE 11867). The next trialogue is planned for 18 October and this could be its last. According to the Presidency of the Council, the political willingness is there. One source informed EUROPE that, “Agreement or at least an understanding on the way forward was found on several smaller elements, possibilities for compromises were mapped out on a few more. All three institutions are committed to work intensively with a view to finalising the negotiations at the next trialogue in October”. (AN)
