08/09/2017 (Agence Europe) – During the donors' roundtable for national level development funding for 2017-2021, which took place in Paris on 7-8 September, European Commissioner for International Cooperation and Development Neven Mimica announced that the EU will contribute €321 million in aid to Chad over the five-year period. The funding, which has been raised by €100 million since April, includes the resources available under the European Development Fund (€542 million for 2014-2020), those for security and peace, and those from the Trust Fund for Africa. On the sidelines of the roundtable, Mimica and Chad's minister for national planning and development, Nguéto Tiraïna Yambaye, signed a financing contract for two new programmes that can now be started to strengthen the country's food security (€156 million) and national security (€20 million).
