05/09/2017 (Agence Europe) – Polish Prime Minister Beata Szydlo, has opposed the revision of the directive on posted workers for a long time. According to a report by the AFP, during a press conference attended by her Lithuanian and Latvian counterparts on Tuesday 5 September, Ms Szydlo said she hoped a compromise could be found on the text under the Estonian Presidency of the Council. She, however, immediately included a number of redlines with regard to the transport sector. France has also invited the Polish Minister for Employment, Elzbieta Rafalska, to begin consultations on the draft revision, according to an explanation by the Polish Minister for Foreign Affairs, that day. This announcement possibly provides a sign of a willingness to soften approaches between these two member states, whose relations have become increasingly tense in many areas but particularly because of this dossier (see EUROPE 11848).
