Commission looks into revelations of alleged cartel in German automotive sector

On Monday 24 July, the European Commission confirmed that it was looking into revelations by the German publication Der Spiegel concerning the alleged existence of a cartel between five major German car builders aiming to reduce pollutant emissions from diesel vehicles.

A spokesperson for the European institution, Ricardo Cardoso, declined to be drawn on the timetable for the investigation or exactly when the Commission was notified of a possible cartel between German car builders. According...
