Parties to action plan on Iranian nuclear programme reaffirm their commitments

On Friday 21 July, the E3+3 (France, Germany, the United Kingdom and China, the United States and Russia) and Iran "confirmed their continued adherence" to the Joint Commission of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) commitments and stressed "the need to ensure its full and effective implementation in a constructive atmosphere", the chair of the JCPOA Commission stated in a press release after it had met.

The meeting provided the opportunity to address the implementation of the JCPOA with regard to nuclear and sanctions related commitments.  The parties welcomed the latest report from the IAEA on Iran's continued adherence to its nuclear-related commitments, and they discussed the positive developments on the Arak heavy water reactor, ongoing and future civil nuclear cooperation and procurement-related matters.

The E3+3 and Iran also reviewed the status of sanctions.  The chair underlined the need to implement the JCPOA in good faith and in all its provisions.   "Despite existing challenges, there has been a consistent trend of economic engagement" with Tehran, the press release also stated.  (Original version in French by Camille-Cerise Gessant)
