10/07/2017 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 10 July, European Commission dispersed €10 million in macro-financial aid to Tunisia. This amount corresponds to the final tranche of the first macro-financial aid programme (MFA-1) adopted in May 2014. According to the Commission, this aid allows the EU to support Tunisia through the severe economic difficulties and ongoing political instability it is facing. A second micro-financial aid plan, with an envelope of €500 million which will also be paid out in the form of regular loans, was agreed at the end of 2016 in response to the terrorist attacks that hit the country in 2015 (see EUROPE 11489).
