06/07/2017 (Agence Europe) – During her meeting with the deputy prime minister and minister of foreign affairs of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) Leonard She Okitundu on Wednesday 5 July, High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini underlined the importance that the EU places on holding transparent and democratic elections as quickly as possible. This is the way to break the political deadlock that has serious security, economic and humanitarian repercussions, the spokesperson for the European External Action Service said in a press release on Wednesday evening. Mogherini also underlined the EU's readiness to discuss the options to support the electoral process starting with setting out the electoral timetable. (AN)
