Visiting Madrid on Monday 3 July, European Trade Commissioner Cecilia Malmström spoke of the benefits of a free trade agreement between the EU and Mercosur (Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay – with Venezuela being on hold from the South American bloc). Negotiations for this agreement were relaunched in spring 2016 after being on ice for a long ten or so years.
