20/06/2017 (Agence Europe) – The future of the EU and religious radicalism were at the heart of the annual meeting between non-confessional organisations in Europe and the European institutions on Monday 19 June. This annual exchange took place just a few hours after the attack by a van driver near the Finsbury Park Mosque in the United Kingdom. The meeting in Brussels brought together 14 representatives from philosophical and non-confessional organisations from throughout the EU and also included the First Vice President of the European Commission, Frans Timmermans and the Vice President of the European Parliament, Mairead McGuinness. The participants discussed a number of subjects including European values, EU governance and the social dimension. During the press conference, several participants highlighted the importance of ensuring greater social integration and mixing at school. (SPj)
