16/06/2017 (Agence Europe) – The EU-USA ministerial meeting on justice and home affairs made it possible to “reaffirm the strong and historical bonds of partnership between the United States of America and the European Union, and the commitment to continue working closely together in the areas of justice and home affairs”, the Council of the EU and Commission state in a joint press release. The meeting “underlined the critical importance of their cooperation in the area of justice and home affairs and the need to sustain and deepen cooperation while facing shared security challenges, for the benefit of the security of citizens on both sides of the Atlantic”. On the matter of visa reciprocity, the Commission did not announce a breakthrough but said discussions would continue on this subject so that American visa demands on Bulgarians, Croatians, Romanians, Polish and Cypriot nationals may be waived.
