On Friday 16 June, the European Commission decided to impose permanent anti-dumping quotas for five years on steel rebars from Belarus.
The Commission’s anti-dumping investigation demonstrated that these Belarus products had been sold in Europe at prices that were 58% below their normal market price.
On the basis of the initial observations made by the investigation opened in March 2016, provisional anti-dumping quotas have been imposed since December 2016 to prevent a negative economic impact on European steel rebar manufacturers (see EUROPE 11694).
The EU currently has 42 anti-dumping and anti-subsidy measures at its disposal against unfair exports of steel products from third countries, of which almost half target products from China. (Original version in French by Emmanuel Hagry)
