09/06/2017 (Agence Europe) – An eighth member state has joined the European Declaration on High-performance Calculation. On 9 June, Belgium joined France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Portugal and Spain to build the next generation of supercalculators in Europe. The European Declaration on High-performance Calculation was launched and signed in Rome in March 2017 (see EUROPE 11752). European Digital Internal Market Commissioner Andrus Ansip said that supercalculators will led to numerous applications with direct benefits for citizens and he was delighted that Belgium is now part of the ambitious project, urging further countries to join the initiative.
