The fisheries committee of the European Parliament gave its backing on Tuesday 25 April to the proposal to incorporate the recommendations from the International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas (ICCAT) into EU law. It called, however, for a number of amendments.
In adopting the report by Gabriel Mato (EPP, Spain), the committee called for the regulation to apply also to third country fishing vessels and vessels engaged in recreational fisheries which operate in EU waters....
