19/04/2017 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 19 April, an EU spokesperson criticised the car bomb that went off on 15 April during the evacuation of two places that supported the regime and were besieged by rebels. The attack claimed 126 lives, including 68 children, and "constitutes a dreadful war crime against innocent civilians who are the main victims of the Syrian conflict – an attack that targeted evacuated people escaping a besieged area that had survived years of living under siege with limited or no access to food and commodities", the spokesperson told EUROPE. "All perpetrators of such crimes must be held accountable", the spokesperson stated. The attack "underlines the urgent need for a real and verified ceasefire" and reinforces "the urgent need for a genuine political transition in Syria", the spokesperson added. (CG)
