09/03/2017 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 9 March, the European Border and Coast Guard Agency and Polish government signed the headquarters agreement defining the legal status of the agency and its employees in Poland. The agreement will make it possible to build its new headquarters in Warsaw on land provided by the Polish government, explained the agency in a press release. Fabrice Leggeri, the executive director of the agency stated, “The signing of the headquarters agreement with Poland is key to the development of our agency. This means that Frontex will grow in years to come, with the certainty of its future here in Poland. This includes a legal status established for the agency and its employees. The children of the latter will therefore be able to attend the accredited European school to be set up in Warsaw”. The headquarters agreement will be maintained on the condition of its ratification by the Polish Parliament. (SP)
