14/02/2017 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 14 February in Strasbourg, the European Parliament agreed to Denmark being added to the list of police agency, Europol, so that the country can continue to take part in Europol even though in December 2015 the Danish people decided that the country should opt out of projects related to justice and home affairs. Voting by 630 votes in favour, with 10 against and 51 abstentions, the plenary endorsed the vote of the civil liberties committee (see EUROPE 11722). On 15 December last, Denmark, the European Commission and the European Council agreed on a solution that would allow the country to participate in the European police agency, Europol, but in a specifically adapted form (see EUROPE 11690).
