Brussels, 26/01/2017 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 26 January, the British government published the draft law that it will put to Parliament in order to be authorised to launch the negotiations on the UK leaving the European Union. The government has been forced to do this by the ruling of the Supreme Court that was handed down on Tuesday, and it must thus obtain Parliament's approval before notifying the EU of the country's exit. This simple draft law, which gives the power to the prime minister to trigger Article 50, will be presented to the House of Commons and House of Lords before obtaining royal assent in time to keep to the 31 March timetable, the British Prime Minister's Office said in a press release quoted by French news agency AFP.
