17/01/2017 (Agence Europe) – After examining the final proposal from the European Commission to introduce an electronic services card (see EUROPE 11700), the European Construction Industry Federation (FIEC) and the European Federation of Building and Woodworkers rejected the draft outright. The two organisations were particularly critical of the reintroduction of the “small door” in to the country of origin principle. FIEC President, Jean-Louis Marchand, explained: “we are extremely annoyed by the way in which the European Commission managed the dossier”. He also highlighted the lack of transparency in which the Commission had worked and its lack of collaboration with the sector. The “services” card does not appear to have been given unanimous approval by economic players (see EUROPE 11701) either or even at the College of Commissioners, and it looks as if it is going to be a very complicated legislative dossier.
