The European Commission launched a call for proposals on Thursday 12 January with a view to providing up to €128.5 million to jointly finance campaigns promoting European agricultural products (see EUROPE 11666).
The campaigns, conducted both in the EU and in third countries, will seek to inform the public about quality goods from European producers and encourage their consumption. EU producer organisations and professional associations may, as of now, submit their proposals by internet. The call is open until 20 April, after which time assessment and selection of projects will take place. European Agriculture Commissioner Phil Hogan has made the opening of third country markets to European products one of his priorities.
The Commission will hold an information day in Brussels on 31 January to help potential applicants in defining their proposals and present examples of successful programmes. (Original version in French by Lionel Changeur)
